Driving around drunk with nine previous convictions and without license gets you no jail...

...as long as you 're-find' islam:

An unlicensed drink-driver who was three times over the limit when he crashed a friend's car has walked free after a court heard he had re-found Islam and was living a more pious life.

A crime which in the UK, usually gives you a suspended jail sentence. Unless of course, you had various run-ins with the law:

But Masood, who has nine previous convictions for 14 offences, walked free from court after magistrates heard he had re-found his faith and was now teetotal after quitting drink and drugs.

'At least', that nice guy called Masood has to pay a few quid for his deed:

As a result chairman of the bench Martin Rudge sentenced Masood to a 25-month driving ban and fined him £350 with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Even in HM's Hug-a-Thug Britain, this penalty is very low, and it is quite obvious that Masood got such a lenient treatment only because he claims he has 're-found' islam. If he had 're-found' Christianity, he would have gotten a jail sentence.
