It wasn't a much-discussed topic in the Swiss media, but in some other countries, the authorities are not that much of a complice of the leftist media and the UK meteorlogical office revealed that global warming stopped 16 years ago:

Kind of revealing, isn't it? And to add insult to injury, they didn't exactly measure that just on a lonely weather station in the Mull of Kintyre:

The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued  quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported.

And even if one checks the data since 1880 - the rise in global temperature is not that high:

Since 1880, when worldwide industrialisation began to gather pace and reliable statistics were first collected on a global scale, the world has warmed by 0.75 degrees Celsius.

This basically means that all these enormous efforts to make cars produce less CO2 through means of taxation, and to promote wind and solar power have been caused by a fata morgana projected by alarmist scientists, who claim that if we don't stop emitting evil CO2 immediately and completely, the world will go under.

Methinks this whole climate warming story is a big scam, engineered to create new taxes and to subsidize 'green' companies, most often cronies to local political elites, in order to allow unproductive people to become rent seekers, all in the name of 'ecology'. Climate warming maybe does take place, but at a much slower rate - and the effects are far less catastrophic than projected.

And just to ponder the question - did the world go under during the warm period in the middle ages?
