There's one metric in France to tell how badly the country is the process of screwing up itself and it's tax base:

France's luxury property market has hit a selling 'panic' as millionaires rush to flee the socialist government's looming tax hikes, a leading estate agent has revealed. More than 400 Paris homes worth more than €1million have been put on the market since President Francois Hollande came to power in May - more than double the same period last year.

And the owners of these properties are doing the only thing they can do to avoid having their money confiscated by the state through the venue of taxes:

Many of France's super-rich want to escape to 'wealth-friendly' countries like Britain, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

And I wouldn't call somebody who can afford a 1 million Euro property 'super-rich'. However, Mr Hollande's soon going to find out the hard way that he can enact all sorts of confiscatory socialist taxes in order to finance all the social transfers, but if there's no wealth to tax left in France, no money whatsoever will gained from taxes, thus getting the socialist camarilla even less monetary intake than before hiking taxes.

And this exodus is not going to stop any sooner than Mr Hollande rescinds all these taxes. And looking at his ideology, he won't.
