The UK has lately been proven to be a particularly wasteful welfare state, and their latest idea isn't a change in direction:

Husbands with multiple wives have been given the go-ahead to claim extra welfare benefits following a year-long Government review, The Sunday Telegraph can reveal.

And as usual, it's mainly one specific group that will benefit:

The outcome will chiefly benefit Muslim men with more than one wife, as is permitted under Islamic law.

Possibly future voters for Labour? Or do the UK underestimate the problem?

Ministers estimate that up to a thousand polygamous partnerships exist in Britain, although they admit there is no exact record.

As exepcted, as polygamy is still illegal in the UK, and it will probably stay that way unless you came from Arabia or any other country where that practice is legal. All in all, it could benefit the husband to have more than one wife in the house with 33,6£ every month, plus council and housing tax benefits for the greater estate needed to hold the clanfamily.

Actually not bad. Committing crimes and getting paid by the state at the same time. Or, as I put it in the subject:

1. Marry one wife in the UK.
2. Import three others into the UK.
3. Profit!

Unless you're the bloke called 'taxpayer'.
